Ramblers Insurance
Last updated 30/01/2024
The Ramblers provide two types of insurance to protect our members and volunteers in case anything
goes wrong during a Ramblers activity:
- Personal accident insurance for Ramblers volunteers
- Liability insurance for all Ramblers members and volunteers
As a volunteer Walk Organiser, to be covered by Ramblers Liability Insurance and Personal Accident Insurance whilst volunteering to lead a group walk with us, you will need to:
- Fill in a Risk Assessment (RA)
- Be a Ramblers member
- Have your volunteer role recorded with the Ramblers*
*We regularly pass new walk organiser details on to the Ramblers – please reach out to the Walks Coordinator or another committee member if you are unsure how this applies to you.

Risk Assessments
As well as fulfilling our insurance obligations, the RA also helps you to actively consider the risks involved, for everyone’s benefit.
Please note that this RA is only required for group walks, and not for any other activities that may be organised amongst the members of EYW, outside the remit of the Ramblers (e.g. bike rides, runs, socials, etc.).
We have put together a Google Form version of the standard RA the Ramblers use here which we encourage you to use. This has been tailored to better represent the mountainous and remote terrain that we often find ourselves in up in the Highlands. It is quick and easy to fill in and allows us to manage all the RAs in one place.
