Here is a check list for new members who want to attend a walk:
1. Browse and select a walk on the Events page. If there are no open spaces, join the waiting list (if there is one) or comment on the event page and someone may message you if they have to drop out.
2. Check the Grading of the walk to see if it’s suitable for you.
3. Click the “Attend Event” button if you want to join in.
4. If you can drive, add a comment to let the Walk Organiser know.
5. If you have any medical condition you feel the Walk Organiser should know about (Epilepsy, Asthma, etc.) please message them privately by clicking on their profile.
6. Check the Kit List for the grading of the walk. (Note: Jeans and trainers are usually inappropriate for anything but C walks).
7. The Walk Organiser should message everyone at 1-2 days before the walk or leave a message in the comments section regarding final arrangements.
8. Get to the meeting point on time. For events outside of Edinburgh, Walk Organisers may help coordinate lift sharing and/or public transport arrangements. Please note drivers should not be expected to operate as a taxi service – most drivers will select a convenient meeting point where all passengers should travel to.
9. Get walking!
10. After the event, arrange petrol money if you’re sharing a lift. The rate is 32p/mile/car per our Fuel Policy, split as fairly as possible between walkers.
Please note, some Walk Organisers may allow a limited number of dogs to join walks. This is only possible where this was advertised before sign ups opened, or has been explicitly cleared with all attendees, in case of any allergies or issues with dogs. Specific arrangements should be made regarding transport of dogs.
Please note that as a group for adults in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s, we do not allow children on our walks. We can however extend the walk to younger adults (age 18+).
