How do I create an event?
Easy. Once you’re signed in, just go to ‘Events’ at the top of the page, then ‘Create Event’. There are fields for Title, Date & time, a description.
You may not want to open the event the event for registration straight away, but when you do, tick the box for ‘Enable registration for this event’ – and you can set a maximum number of places. If you need drivers to make the walk work, we recommend initially only opening sign ups to drivers and then adding more spaces depending how many passenger spaces are available.
Click Publish.
How do I advertise the Walk?
We recommend that Walk Organisers post your event once in the “EYW Notifications” Whatsapp group. In the case of last minute spaces or drop outs, we suggest posting your event again in the “EYW General Chat” on Whatsapp. Upcoming events will also be advertised in the newsletter.
How do I communicate with people who have signed up?
There is an easy way of emailing all attendees – see ‘Walk leader looking to email your event attendees? Click here and scroll down‘ just above the list of attendees.
Who receives emails on an event comment?
As the event creator you receive an email whenever someone comments on your event, but nobody else automatically receives these. If you reply to a specific comment that comment creator will receive an email but if you wish to communicate with all event attendees it is best to use the method below.
How do I add a map to the event page?
If you have a gpx file for your route you can add a map to your event.
Go to the Add Media page and upload your GPX file. Click on the uploaded file and either copy the File URL or click Copy URL to Clipboard.
Within your event description add the following lines, replacing <GPX URL> in the second line with the URL you have copied.
[leaflet-map tileurl=https://server.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/World_Topo_Map/MapServer/tile/{z}/{y}/{x} fitbounds zoomcontrol scrollwheel width=100%]
[leaflet-gpx src="<GPX URL>"]
Once the event is published / updated, a map focused on your route should appear on the event page.
