Privacy Policy

Edinburgh Young Walkers (EYW) is a local group of Ramblers Scotland.

What data we collect

EYW group activities are organised via our website (eyw.org.uk) which requires a personal login. The login is created using personal data provided by you, including name, username, email address, Ramblers membership number (if applicable), date of birth and gender.

Only your name and website username will be visible to other users of the website. Other details are visible by the website administrator only.

On group walks we take a walk register and collect emergency contact information. We ask that you carry an ‘In Case of Emergency’ (ICE) card if you do not wish us collect this information. All walk registers and emergency contact information will be destroyed within 1 month of the walk.

How we use your information

EYW takes your privacy seriously. We will only use your personal information to administer your account, and if you consent to us contacting you we will also keep you updated with upcoming events and information relevant to the group. You may opt-out of receiving our communications at any time.

Sometimes we may need to contact you regardless of any contact preferences you have specified. However, this will only ever be for essential communications, such as a welcome email, AGM notice, or information that is core to membership responsibilities.

We will never share your personal information with any third-parties.

After joining EYW for 3 trial walks we expect members of EYW to join the Ramblers. The Ramblers Privacy Policy can be read here: http://www.ramblers.org.uk/technical-stuff/privacy-policy.aspx
